Supports Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Coordinates the orientation of all new staff members to the west side nursing units. Partners with preceptors, CTLs, Unit Director and Clinical Unit Educator to ensure that all staff are clinically competent.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing – or - any bachelor’s degree plus a master’s degree in nursing required.

Experience: Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills in applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and Virginia nursing licensure requirements. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, time management skills, organizational skills, training skills, customer service skills, and strong follow up skills. Must be able to think critically, be creative and have the ability to take initiative to improve processes. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be a team player.

Must have a minimum of 3 years of current acute care/PCU level experience as an RN Must have passion for teaching nurses and a desire to stay competent in nursing skills.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or new graduate of approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam. AHA BLS-HCP required and must be maintained. May be required to obtain/maintain, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Must be able to meet essential job functions.
